Travel along the Cape Vidal road for approximately 14km then turn right onto the gravel road. Along the way to Mission Rocks you can stop at the lookout point from where you can look down on the Eastern and Western shores.

At Mission Rocks there are picnic, braai facilities and toilets. Off the rocks to your left, walk approximately 2km to bats cave which has a large population of Egyptian Fruit Bats. To your right along the rocks, you will find many rock pools with an abundance of marine animals. Best time to go is at low tide. Only 25 vehicles per day.

Mission Rocks is 16km north of St Lucia on the Cape Vidal road and is a wonderful rocky shore with picnic sites behind the dunes.

The Mziki Trail is part of a trail system planned to link St Lucia Estuary with Cape Vidal. It is about 40 kilometres in length, takes three days to cover, and is laid out in one of the most remarkable areas of South Africa.

Experiences on this trail are both varied and unique. The walk along the northern Zululand sea-shore, the open grasslands of the Eastern Shores, the dense forests clothing the spectacular coastal dunes, combined with scintillating views of the Indian Ocean and the magic of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, add up to an experience which will remain in visitors memories forever.

Mission Rocks is popular for shore fishing at high tide and the rock pools at low tide are rich in marine life and very colourful.

Nearby at Mount Tabor there are three circular day trails which provide hikers with an opportunity to experience the wildlife and magnificent scenery of Lake St Lucia.

On the way to the beach there is a lookout point with views of the Indian Ocean and southern Lake St Lucia.

"I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her."--Ellen DeGeneres
